The Retro Draft Prior to the 1959-60 Season

Unlike our usual drafts, the initial retro draft involved teams, not players. The reason was that most coaches did not know players from the late 1950's very well. We solved this problem by creating 6 pre-made teams. We then asked the six coaches which teams they liked best. If everyone wanted the same team, we would rebalance the rosters until each team had a coach interested in taking over the team.

The six teams we created were creatively named teams A, B, C, D, E, and F. The original rosters of those teams can be found here.

The table below shows the rankings of each coach. The team listed in the "1" row means that the coach valued that team the most. A team letters in bold is the team that particular coach was awarded.
