After playing approximately 4,500 games in our fantasy hoops leagues (including retro), no team has ever scored more than 51 points in a quarter. The teams were Rottingham in 1995 and KCC in 1999 (51 pts each). Tonight not only did a team score 53 points in a quarter, they did it in the 4th quarter when they were down 101-85. The 53 points were just enough to win the game.

The 2 teams combined to score 86 points in the 4th quarter, which tied a record for the 4th qtr. But it did not beat the record for most combined points in any quarter. That record belongs to these two teams:

1996, Yukon (45 pts) at KCC (48 pts) combined for 93 points in a quarter.

The other teams that also combined for 86 points in the 4th quarter was also back in 1996, Rottingham (47 pts) at KCC (39 pts).

FYI, the NBA's record for most points by 1 team in any quarter is 58 (Buffalo at Boston, 1972).

The NBA record for most pts combined in any quarter by 2 teams is 99 (San Antonio [53] at Denver [46], 1984).
